Directions

Car | Bus

Via Car:  Option 1: Via the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem Highway

bulletTel Aviv-Jerusalem Highway (#1) to Shaar Hagai / Beit Shemesh Exit (one exit after Latrun/Hiway #3 if coming from Tel Aviv).
bulletOnce you exit, you will be heading South on Highway 38.
bulletGo south for approximately 10 kilometers.  During this time you will pass one traffic light, then cross the railroad tracks, and then pass the two traffic lights at the two main entrances to Beit Shemesh.
bulletContinue past this third traffic light for 3 kilometers until you reach the THIRD entrance.  It is clearly marked "Ramat Beit Shemesh".
bulletTurn left onto the entrance highway (a large divided roadway with eucalyptus trees in the median).  You should see large electrical wires, and after a few turns, the houses of Ramat Beit Shemesh in the distance.
bulletTravel to the end of this road (2.8km) and make a right onto Kishon Blvd..
bulletTravel straight on Kishon for 200 meters and make your first left onto Ayalon.  At this point you can easily see our terraced apartment on the left side of the road, just across the central park.
bulletTravel up Ayalon 0.6km until you can make your first left at the circle.  (If you have reached the end of Ayalon, you have gone too far.  Go back one block).
bulletTravel 200m on Sorek and make the first first left onto Lachish. (CAUTION:  Many people don't notice the left until they have passed it).
bulletWe are in #36, the third building on the left side of the street (0.3km from the corner).  Our apartment is on the ground floor (3 flights down) on the left side.

Via Car:  Option 2: From Jerusalem via the Tunnel Road:

bulletThe tunnel road (Hiway 60) starts in Gilo (I will assume that you know how to get to this point).
bulletOnce you pass through the second tunnel and the checkpoint, make a right turn to Betar Illit.
bulletTravel on this road for approximately 26 kilometers.  Towards the end, you will be descending through a winding canyon.  At the end, you will finally reach the bottom and the road will become perfectly straight and flat.  Shortly after that will be a turn to the right marked "Ramat Beit Shemesh".  Turn right here and travel on this road (which is currently under construction) for about 1.5 kilometers.
bulletMake your first left onto the entrance road to Ramat Beit Shemesh (there will be streetlights on this road).
bulletContinue straight at the first intersection and enter Ramat Beit Shemesh.
bulletMake the next right onto Luz street.
bulletTravel to the end of Luz, and make a left onto Refaim
bulletTravel straight through the intersection with Ayalon.  The street you are on is now called Sorek
bulletTravel 200m on Sorek and make the first first left onto Lachish. (CAUTION:  Many people don't notice the left until they have passed it).
bulletWe are in #36, the third building on the left side of the street (0.3km from the corner).  Our apartment is on the ground floor (3 flights down) on the left side.

Via Bus

Option 1:  Direct Egged Bus:

bulletThere are two buses from Jerusalem: 417 & 418.  Both travel through Geula and then out the entrance of the city.  Buses leave every 15 to 30 minutes during the day.
bulletThe bus ride is about 30 minutes to the entrance to Beit Shemesh, and then 15 minutes from there to Ramat Beit Shemesh.
bulletWhen the bus is finished traveling through Beit Shemesh, it travels into a valley, over a bridge, and up a hill through Ramat Beit Shemesh "B" (you will notice approximately 7 traffic circles - there may be more at the time you are reading this). After leaving RBS "B", the bus makes a right turn onto Kishon Boulevard (you'll notice the massive high-voltage wires above this road), and then makes a left onto Sorek street.  Get off at the fourth bus stop on this road (it is along the Central park, and just beyond the right turn to Lachish street)..
bulletWalk back to Lachish street and make a left.
bulletWe are in #36, the third building on the left side of the street.  Our apartment is on the ground floor (3 flights down) on the left side.

Option 2: Sherut:

bulletYou can pick up a shared cab, a sherut, on Jaffa Street near the new bus stations on Jaffa street.  The charge to Ramat Beit Shemesh is 10nis.  You should confirm this with the driver before he starts.  The drivers will follow the standard Egged bus route in RBS, so get off at the second corner of Lachish and Sorek.  In certain cases, you may be asked to leave the van and join up with other passengers in another van, so don't be surprised if this happens.
